His father had been Toscani's first violin but he chose to teach. Although he was from Bologna he married a lady from Tossignano. Where they had a villa. My great-grandmother was their maid and Barera's two children, including Orlando, called Orlandino by family and friends, were great friends of his children. Before going to the United States in 1936, he played at my grandmother's wedding.
